Water lovers are also fortunate to be just a short drive away from both Lake Norman and Lake Wylie which offer endless opportunities to wile away the hours sailing, windsurfing, powerboating and fishing.   Charlotte is also proud to be the home of the US National Whitewater Center.  This 307 acre outdoor recreation facility is home to the world’s largest recirculating river.  It also has one of the world’s largest climbing facilities.

Folks that are looking for thrills and chills visit Paramount’s Carowinds, a 100-acre theme park located on the North Carolina/South Carolina border. Carowinds has breathtaking roller coasters, children’s amusement rides and concerts at their Palladium Theater. Another music venue is the Verizon Wireless amphitheater in the University area. This outdoor theater hosts a variety of rock concerts, Broadway shows and classical programs.

And rest assured that the arts are alive and well in Charlotte . The Children’s Theatre of Charlotte , the Mint Museum, the Afro-American Cultural Center, Discovery Place, the North Carolina Blumental Performing Arts Center… these and many more offer a world of cultural and educational opportunities.
